KATALYST - FOR CHANGE

Dumfries and Galloway is a region of Scotland that is abundant in skills and natural resources. It boasts excellent connectivity and transport infrastructure that links the area to the rest of Scotland and the UK - particularly the major port at Stranraer and the M74 motorway mean that the area is only one driver shift to anywhere in the UK mainland. Our vision is to further capitalise on these assets and regenerate the region focusing initially on the main arteries that connect our villages and towns.

"The Lockerbie - Gretna - Annan area has a skilled workforce, lovely scenery and a great quality of life. It also has easy access to the Central Belt of Scotland and the North of England. The decline of the traditional industries of the area are a challenge, but are also an opportunity to bring new industries and people to this part of Scotland, this is an area with great potential."

Elaine Murray MSP,
Dumfries

"The wealth of potential in Dumfries and its surrounding areas is matched only by its scenic beauty. With no other place in Scotland dealing better with the decline of heavy industry and the diversification of new industry and tourism, words like hardworking, innovative, and ambitious can best describe the people of this part of the country. So why not come and see the opportunities for yourself - you won't be disappointed."

Russell Brown MP,
Dumfries and Galloway

"Dumfriesshire has a proud history, but it also has great potential for the future. We have much to offer potential investors. Strong local communities provide a quality of life being lost elsewhere, while close proximity to the motorway network and West Coast mainline, makes the area easy to access for people and freight. Our excellent flexible local education facilities are at hand to deliver the skills required for any workforce and all this against the backdrop of some of the most unspoilt scenery in Scotland. What more could you ask?"

David Mundell MP,
Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale
